Recently short listed for the 162nd SWA Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, Maha has been a resident artist at the Beckenham Place Mansion since 2021. She studied painting at Central Saint Martins, London and about her work she shares, “Mostly figurative subjects, I enjoy painting contemporary compositions, experimenting with the angles and perspective of the figures/viewer. I use oil paints particularly for the malleability the medium offers for softer edges. I get completely immersed in the painting and make my choices about colours, composition and character.”
Her subjects vary from people to dogs to cricket grounds and sometimes just a pair of shoes! She is very interested in women artists and how their work co-exists with their domestic life. Among other competitions, she has been shortlisted at The Football Art Prize 2022, National Open Art 2017 and at the SWA 2023 more recently. Maha has also designed several book-covers and illustrated a number of books for a Sports publishing enterprise she works with. Maha takes commissions of pets and family portraits, in pencil drawings or as paintings.
