Matt Vadis is a fine artist specialising in portraits. He trained as an animator at Ravensbourne where he learnt to use the power of suggestion rather than realism to create the illusion of life. After graduating his focus shifted to the impact of the single image applying the same principles, with a particular interest in the human face and the unspoken volumes it can reveal without saying a word. His artistic journey has been one of introspection, taking him through philosophical highs and lows, in search of a way to communicate a positive human message he considers to be severely lacking today. Portraiture has provided such a means: a way to challenge those detrimental aspects of our culture while re-defining how we see ourselves in a hopeful new light.
Matt is currently looking for sitters to be part of his Portraits project – to learn more or explore his other work, you can visit his website at www.mattvadis.com.
