The Icarus Club Acoustic Autumn Concert

The Icarus Club is an acoustic club, born in a variety of South London Venues, starting in 2003. With a close eye on high quality music, and a 'no covers' policy, The Icarus Club has welcomed over 1000 musicians in its 15 year history.

This is our second concert at Beckenham Place Mansion. A beautiful Georgian mansion, set in Beckenham Place Park.

This very special show features 4 top acoustic artists:

Adam Cooney

Adam Cooney is a singer/songwriter originally from Kent. He writes songs that are honest, melodic and often melancholic and has an unhealthy interest in 90s pop music.

"…a beautiful voice; soft, gentle and tuneful." GigglePics music reviews (2014)

Sam Winston

Sam Winston is an Indie Folk Pop Artist from London. He writes, produces and records in his own studio that he built. He has studied the piano since he was 6 and taught himself the acoustic, electric, bass guitar, mandolin, ukulele, kalimba. His passion for Folk Pop resulted in the 2016 release of "The Fire & The Icicle". Its 10 songs point towards the idea of hope in the dark. Sam's album was mixed by Chris Brown (Radiohead's "Street Spirit"; Muse's "Feeling Good"). The Fire & The Icicle was mastered by Geoff Pesche at Abbey Road Studios.

Anne Sumner

Classically trained from an early age, Anne is well-versed in the power of music to generate beauty from the darker sides of human existence. She weaves tales of love, loss and longing with a soothing warmth, simultaneously uplifting, poignant and comforting.
Emotionally honest and lyrically led, her writing style is reminiscent of Joni Mitchell or James Taylor, and criss-crosses the acoustic-pop spectrum from folk to country and back again. Vocally more likely to get compared to Tracy Chapman, Sandy Denny, or Joan Armatrading, Anne’s tender and often haunting vocals are set off by a minimalist fingerpicking style that allows the emotion to take centre stage.

The Gillies

The Gillies are an Americana influenced alternative folk duo, based in South-East London, Susan Turner (vocals, tenor guitar), and Mark (Gilly) Evans (guitar, dobro).
With Susan’s poignant, Emmylou Harris-tinged vocals laid above the intertwining picked guitars, The Gillies have brought their own personal flavour to their songwriting, their songs have influences of English, Celtic, and American folk traditions, a sense of darkness, a twist of fate, the complications of tangled relationships and a timeless sense of mystery
