An Introduction to Free Motion Embroidery

17 May @ 10:00 - 13:00

£60

Students will learn basic setup, safe practice, stitch control, and some simple design creation. By the end, they’ll understand:

What free-motion embroidery is.
What they can achieve.
And will have completed sample examples.
Note: This lesson assumes students already know how to use a sewing machine in general (threading, basic controls, wound bobbin, safe operation). If any student is unfamiliar with sewing machines, consider a pre-workshop quick refresher.

DO NOT JOIN THIS CLASS IF YOU HAVE NOT USED A MACHINE BEFORE

By the end of the session, students will be able to:

Explain what free-motion embroidery is and how it differs from traditional machine embroidery.
Set up a machine for free-motion work (drop feed, appropriate foot, reverse, tension basics).
Control movement to create simple stitches and shapes free-motion style.
Create some free-motion embroidery sampler/designs.
Troubleshoot common issues (thread break, skipped stitches, thread nesting).
