Come and explore the magic and art of natural dyes. Immerse yourself in colour alchemy and learn how fabrics have been dyed for centuries up until the 1850s.
In this introductory course you will learn about what makes a good reliable dye and where to source local colour from all around you. We will cover how to properly fix colour into cloth. You will learn which fabrics work best for dyeing with plants. You will gain a greater understanding of and connection to your local environment and the clothing that you wear. We will talk about PH and how to modify fabrics to get a large variety of colour from one dye vat.
You will come away with a swatch book of natural colours and the confidence to try it out at home!
Delicious home baked treats provided.
I am open to trade as well as concession students so if cost is an issue, please get in touch.
