Philosophy at The Mansion
9th July 2018 @ 19:30 - 20:45£5
The Philosophy Foundation hosts three evenings of philosophical discussion and enquiry around the themes of ethics and decision-making (9th July), free speech (16th July) and privacy (23rd July). These are separate, self-contained sessions. Simply drop-in and join in the conversation.
The Big Red Button
Monday 9th July, 19.30-20.45
There’s a Big Red Button with the words “DO NOT PRESS” next to it. Do you press it? Should you press it? Under what set of circumstances would (or should) you press it? Come along and take part in a discussion on ethics, motivation and decision-making.
Monday 16th July, 19.30-20.45
Is language harmful? Is language power? Should we have the right to say anything we want to say? Come and have your voice heard freely in a collaborative conversation around the notion of free speech.
Surveillance and Privacy
Monday 23rd July, 19.30-20.45
There are more cameras watching us than ever, and many snapshots of our lives are being captured and recorded online, whether we want them to be or not. Do we need surveillance? Do we need privacy? Is one more important than the other? Got a view on this matter? Come along and join in at this private(?) forum…
£5.00 per session, payable on the door. Drop-in sessions. No advance booking required. If you would like any further information, please contact Louise Chatterton – firstname.lastname@example.org.
